Women In Kayaking Course 2

Ladies let's take the next step!...  This Women’s weekend paddling program is designed to incorporate our Sea Skills Session 2 course and sea kayaking trip to take our skills to the next level. Come and experience the Jervis Bay waterways with us again and add the necessary skills to make you more independent as well as a strong and safe paddling partner all in an encouraging and fun learning environment.

   

If you have completed this weekend at Level One or have already covered similar theories as our Sea Skills Session 1 then this would be the perfect complement to build on those skills and increase you kayaking ability, confidence and enjoyment.

DAY ONE

Overview:
- Why Women Make Great Paddlers: The finer points                                                        

- Sea Skills Session Two Course Content
- Equipment

Orientation Includes: How to carry your kayak correctly, How to Load your Kayak on your Vehicle, Women Specific Equipment, Gear & Clothing, Common Concerns, How to pack your sea kayak for trips/camping.

OUTLINE :
1) Overview.
2) Equipment Orientation.
3) Individual Fitting of participants to Sea Kayaks.
4) Stability
    Outfitting your kayak for increased stability and control.
    Weather Considerations
    Wind, Waves and Current.
    Advanced Manoeuvring of the Sea Kayak.
5) Advanced Paddling Technique.
    Edging - Control and Theory.
    Leaning - Posture , adverse conditions, specialised strokes.
    Wave Crest Steering - finding the comfort zone.
    Sweep strokes in practice.
    Bracing in control.
    Stern Rudder usage.
    Sculling for support.
6) Stroke practice ( as above ).
7) Paddle Float Rescue - In theory and in practice.
8) Advanced Rescues.
9) Towing Procedures.
            Specialised gear.
            Mishap Management.

 

DAY TWO

½ Day Paddling Trip :  BAY EXPERIENCE GUIDED KAYAKING TRIP
Now that you have successfully completed your Sea Skills Level 2 Course lets go and explore Jervis Bay with two relaxed paddling sessions of approximately 1.5 hours, total trip time is approx 5.5hrs. A well deserved mid morning break of about an hour ensures you are able to revitalize your mind and energy. You will be able to practice your new skills as well as relax & enjoy the company of your fellow paddlers and take in the beautiful waterway surrounds.
Duration 7.45am till 1.15pm approx.

Tuition given to level of tour Professional Guidance with Australian Canoeing Qualified Leaders
Morning Tea ( Freshly Brewed Coffee / Tea / Freshly Baked Cake /Fresh Fruit).
National Park User Fees (where applicable).
